Orchestres À l’École, Field Visit

This week saw the national conference of the Orchestres À l’École association — a special occasion to present the initiatives and solutions contributing to the success of the approach. The programme included talks and concerts performed by classes from across France, aimed at all those involved, near or far, in the association (parents, teachers, head teachers, music teachers…).
On this occasion, MFG attended the concert by the class from Limours school (91) before listening to a talk on motivation — covering its origins, its forms, and how to nurture it — led by Jordan Ivanovski, artist and academic trainer at the Versailles academy. After a short break, the class from La Gurraz school (74) took to the stage accompanied by the town’s mayor and the director of the documentary My Little School. The filmmaker had followed this very small school’s orchestra (around ten pupils) for several weeks. A wonderful testament to what instrumental practice can bring to a mixed-level class!
