This is the story of the perilous journey of four schoolchildren from different countries making their way to school. What they share is a thirst for knowledge. Instinctively, they know their future depends on learning — and therefore on school. In four corners of the world, each child imagines their classroom. For these children, the blackboard is their horizon. But to reach the benches of their distant school, they must overcome countless obstacles along the way. The paths of their journey towards knowledge, nestled within majestic landscapes, are as treacherous as they are exhilarating. As they set off on their remarkable road to school, they leave a little of their childhood behind and embark on an adventure filled with challenges and surprises. Some make the journey alone, others travel together — with friends, brothers or sisters. Some go on foot, by bicycle or on horseback; others by canoe, bus, train or sled. But for all of them, at the end of the road, there is their school.

Documentary companion to the book of the same name. The nine reports that punctuate the book (4 in the documentary) tell the story of what sport can offer at its best, and how it responds to individual and collective, cultural and political challenges. Because while pioneering organisations and businesses cannot of course be held solely responsible for resolving structural social problems, they hold a wealth of solutions and innovations that foreshadow the sport of tomorrow.
