Placing manual intelligence at the heart of the educational system

De l’Or dans les Mains is dedicated to placing hands-on intelligence back at the heart of the education system. To achieve this, the organization combines field-based initiatives that demonstrate the benefits of learning by doing for middle school students with research and advocacy efforts aimed at transforming teaching methods by bridging theoretical concepts and practical, hands-on experience.

Founded in 2021 by Gabrielle Légeret, the organization is reshaping perceptions of skilled trades through an educational methodology that combines local craft techniques with the school curriculum. This approach gives middle school students the opportunity to put the theoretical concepts they learn in the classroom into practice. With the support of a wide network of philanthropic partners, De l’Or dans les Mains also leads advocacy efforts with public institutions to expand the program across France.

Now present in six regions (Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne Franche-Comté, Centre Val de Loire, Île-de-France, Normandie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine), the association is developing the links between schools andvisiting craftspeople in order to normalize the presence of manual workshops in the school curriculum.

In 2025, De l’Or dans les Mains reached more than 5,000 young people in 42 partner schools and called on 350 craftspeople to intervene in middle schools.

Milk for Good supports the association’s deployment in the territories.
